If you are interesting in reading a book, written in 1958, about why public education has evolved into its current state, you may want to read a book titled “School of Darkness” by Bella V. Dodd.  Evil works in incremental steps, and the uninformed can be easily deceived.

Another reading source for your consideration is a pamphlet titled “Leftist Indoctrination in our K-12 Public Schools”, written by Sara Dogan and Peter Collier.  They mention the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s new campaign to secure legislation in all 50 states that would create a “Code of Ethics for K-12 Teachers that would enforce traditional rules of fairness and non-partisan political positions in the classrooms”.
