We have been noticing a trend by the political sub-divisions to change existing levies and enact new levies with the term “continuous”. The word “continuous” means “forever”. Rather than ask for a levy for a limited duration in years, the political sub-divisions thought it would be much more convenient to ask for the voters to pay forever on a levy. This has the chance of making them less responsive to the voters since they know that they are already going to get our money, so why bother keeping the taxpayer in mind.
To determine the validity of our claims, we have sent the following email to Mr. Ed Zupancic, the Lake County Auditor.

Mr. Zupancic:
We are very concerned about the increasing use of “continuous levies” by the various Lake County political sub-divisions. It seems that the political sub-divisions are now playing “follow the leader”.
It is our opinion that the use of “continuous levies” negates the need for the political sub-divisions to be responsive to the voters in the community. We intend to communicate with the Lake County residents about this disturbing trend.
Is it possible for us to receive a list of levies by the year enacted, political sub-division, millage and type of levy that are currently being charged to the Lake County residents?
