Lake County Port Authority News…..

Don’t Miss Miracle League Opening Day
This Saturday, July 28 at 10AM

We at the Lake County Ohio Port and Economic Development Authority are proud of our role in the creation of the Lubrizol Miracle Playground and the Lake Health Miracle Park. The Port, in its role of shaping the future of Lake County, saw an opportunity to enhance the recreational opportunities of those with special needs in Lake County. Less than two years ago, Mark Rantala, Executive Director of the port authority, approached Mayor Dennis Morley and together they approached the Lake County Captains about the creation of a Miracle League field. That meeting and much hard work resulted in this fantastic facility.

Without the cooperation of the Lake County Captains and the Captains Charities, together with the Deepwood Foundation and the support of Mayor Morley, the City of Eastlake and Judy Moran and the Miracle League Board, this project would not have become reality. Lake County can proudly celebrate Opening Day this Saturday, July 28th, at 10AM as we make it possible for every child to play baseball. The Lake County Ohio Port and Economic Development Authority would like to thank Lubrizol and Lake Health, and all who helped make this a reality. Click here to view the full program of planned festivities, and click here to learn more about the Miracle League of Lake County. We hope to see you there!

Ribbon Cutting for New ADA Canoe/Kayak Launch
at Erie Road Park in Eastlake This Sunday, July 29 at 9:30AM

The Lake County Ohio Port & Economic Development Authority is pleased to announce that a new ADA accessible kayak ramp and launch will be installed at Erie Road Park in the City of Eastlake. Erie Road Park is located at the intersection of Admiral Drive and Erie Road and provides the only public access point for canoeing and boating in a 15-mile span of Lake Erie between Wildwood Park in Cleveland and the Mentor Lagoons Marina. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony held in advance of the guided canoe tours on July 29th that will take place as part of Eastlake’s 3rd Annual Nature Weekend. Click here for more information about the Eastlake Nature Weekend.

The Chagrin River Watershed Partners (CRWP) assisted the City of Eastlake in preparing a Lakeshore Improvement Project application to the Lake County Ohio Port and Economic Development Authority (LCOPEDA) to fund the dock and ramp system. LCOPEDA approved this application and presented it to the Lake County Commissioners. The Lake County Commissioners granted funding for the $27,331.75 project, using funds allocated for lakeshore improvement projects. “This is the first project to be funded with bed tax funds,” said Peter Zahirsky, LCOPEDA’s Director of Coastal Development. “This project significantly expands public access and recreational opportunities not just for Eastlake, but for the region; and it is an important step forward in the implementation of Lake County’s Coastal Development Plans. These quality-of-life enhancements further our mission of talent attraction and retention in Lake County.” Everyone is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday, July 29th, at 9:30 AM. We hope to see you there! Click here to view the CRWP Press Release.
