“Geauga County Sheriff Scott Hildenbrand wants local law enforcement ready for a “show of force,” if necessary, to deter violence and vandalism related to recent nationwide protests.”

“Geauga County commissioners Tim Lennon and Ralph Spidalieri voiced their full support for the purchase of SWAT helmets and crowd dispersal gear Hildenbrand proposed at the June 16 meeting. Commissioner Jim Dvorak was not present.”

““I would definitely look to outfit your agency with some chemical munitions,” Spidalieri continued. “And you know, masks, if you guys don’t have the upgraded gas masks I – you know, listen, at the end of the day, this is nothing to play with. And if we can’t look out for the best interests of our first responders out there, we got [sic] a problem.”

“Spidalieri said the county should have zero tolerance for protests that have, in cities across the country, resulted in violence or property damage.

Remarking on the recent toppling of monuments, including one in Virginia, Spidalieri said that type of vandalism “should be a shootable offense.”

[LFC Comments: We cannot imagine the Lake County Commissioners being this bold with their rhetoric.  However, we have been told that Sheriff Leonbruno is not a “shrinking violet” when it comes to actual law enforcement.  The police departments and the Sheriff’s department will not give away their planning “secrets”, nor would we ask them.  To do so would provide aid and comfort to the enemy.]
