Meet Richard Regovich – Candidate for Lake County Commissioner

LFC Comments by Brian Massie, Executive Director / April 15, 2022

We attended Hal Werner’s Heritage Club meeting on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Family Restaurant, and had the opportunity to record Mr. Richard J. Regovich’s speech to a like-minded group of patriots.

Mr. Regovich, a very loyal Republican, is the current Mayor of Willowick, Ohio, and is on the May 3rd Republican primary ballot for Lake County Commissioner – the 2 year seat currently held by John Plecnik. His opponent is Mr. Morris Beverage III, the son of the current President of Lakeland Community College.

Other politicians in attendance were Commissioner John Hamercheck, Treasurer Mike Zuren, former Director of the Lake County Board of Elections, Jan Clair, and Sarah Kovoor, a true Conservative candidate for the 11th District Court of Appeals.

This is the first time that I have heard Mr. Regovich give a speech, and his friendly, easy-going, average citizen persona should play very well in Lake County. He gave me a very honest answer to my question when I asked why he transferred from running for the 4 year Commissioner’s seat to the 2 year seat.

His answer: It was best for the party.

Mr. Regovich’s decision to run for the 2 year seat allows Commissioner John Plecnik to save money in the primary since he will be unopposed. Plecnik will then be able to focus on the Democrat candidate, Mr. Adam Dudziak, on the November ballot. Believe me, we will have much more to say on that race at a later date.
