Auburn Career Center has gone “woke” Updated 3/3/22 5:30 am

LFC attended the Auburn Career Center board meeting last night. (3/1/22)

Dr. Brian Bontempo was selected as the Auburn’s new Superintendent effective March 22, 2017.

It appears that Dr. Bontempo unilaterally decided to change the student’s selection process to attend Auburn Career Center. We say “appears” because most of the 10 school districts’ boards that supply the students to Auburn were not informed of the change in the selection process; and there was no proof of any outside parties that may have influenced his decision.

Formerly, a merit based system was established, where a student’s hard work, good grades, good attendance, and conduct during an interview were all considered. Since Dr. Bontempo is now “woke”, he does not want to hurt anyone’s feelings, and has changed the selection process to a random, lottery style process. Therefore, even those children that cannot read or write above a 50% proficiency after graduating from high school, will still have a chance at attending Auburn Career Center. We are told it is the only fair thing to do.

Here are a series of short videos that we edited from the Board Meeting.

The first video shows Dr. Bontempo explaining the selection process, and also has two female dissenters to his new random lottery policy.

The following videos are individuals that spoke during the public session against the new selection policy.

U.S. Senate Candidate Josh Mandel expressed his concerns over the random lottery selection process.

We will continue to monitor the Auburn Career Center’s decision to change the enrollment selection process, and will keep our readers informed.

The following letter was sent by Leah Amstutz, State Department of Education – Office of Career – Technical Education to Painesville City Schools Superintendent Josh Engleheart with a copy to Dr. Bontempo.

If you read the letter, you will see that the State of Ohio Board of Education is weighing in on the enrollment selection process at Auburn Career Center. However, Auburn’s Superintendent made it clear that this letter had nothing to do with his decision to move from a merit based selection process to one that is a random, lottery process. The date of the letter (December 10, 2021) was co-incidental to the policy change by Auburn.
