We have to admit that we are very concerned about the current trend in public education introducing SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) . With this curriculum the government is about to shape your children’s attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs!
In our opinion, that is an area that should be left to the parents – no ifs, ands or buts. Having the government in charge of shaping and molding our children is so very wrong on many levels.
We researched the State Educational funding with a specific purpose to determine the funds allocated to the SEL. Here is what we discovered about funding increases from 2014 – 2018:
Early Childhood Expenditures 2014 – 2019
The numbers indicate that there has been a $40.3 million (145%) increase in Early Childhood Education from 2014 – 2018. [$27.7 million to $68.1 million]
We decided to reach out to those informed about this issue and ask if this increase is tied to the new SEL curriculum. Here is the response we received:

The reason that we are reaching out to you is to try to understand your support for the new Social and Emotional Learning curriculum. It appears to us that the SEL is trying to shape the attitudes, behaviors and beliefs of the children. This, in our opinion, is to be left up to the parents, and is not the purview of our public schools.
We did research the State of Ohio budget and discovered that there has been a $40,330,175 (145.14%) increase in funding for Early Childhood Education from 2014 – 2018. [$27.786,614 to $68,116,789]
We agree completely that Ohio’s public schools are in turmoil. In the 2016 – 2017 school year, we spent $24.1 Billion in all 607 public schools and earned a 1.55 GPA on the “Achievement” component in the State testing. The 286 community schools are even worse with ~$898 million spent for a .47 GPA.
The government is trying to fix a problem that they cannot fix with money. It is our opinion, that when you destroy the family, babies and morality a society will collapse on itself.
