FACTS on November Issue 1…Redistricting in Ohio
1) Is a power play by angry, term-limited, CAREER POLITICIAN, Maureen O’Connor. She will no longer be able to try to dictate maps through the bench, so she has taken the lead on ISSUE 1 by joining with SPECIAL INTEREST groups to manipulate maps to gain CONTROL of the statehouse, instate the agendas of their big donors, and CUT voters OUT of the process- all while marketing it as a “citizen-led” initiative!
2) Under ISSUE 1, map DRAWERS are NO longer ELECTED and they will be totally UNACCOUNTABLE to the VOTERS. Instead, they will subject to the lobbying of special interests and big money donors. If voters don’t like the maps that are drawn, there is NOTHING they can do because they have NO VOICE in CHOOSING or FIRING the appointies!
3) The maps WON’T be subject to REVIEW by the Ohio courts and can ONLY be CHALLENGED and reviewed BY APPOINTED “special masters.”
4) Map drawers will DETERMINE the NUMBER of REPUBLICAN and DEMOCRAT SEATS held in the statehouse! If Republicans drop below 60 in the house and below 20 in the Senate then it will be IMPOSSIBLE to VETO-OVER-RIDE a corrupt Governor!!
DON’T be FOOLED!
November ISSUE 1 hands re-districting over to SPECIAL INTEREST groups and completely REMOVES VOTERS from the PROCESS!
