Here is a short video of an Average Citizen continuing the fight against the ever-increasing property taxes for all of the citizens of Lake County and the State of Ohio.
Commissioner John Plecnik has heard the pleas of Lake County citizens for help informing our State legislators that something needs to been done with the overly complex system of property taxation. It is a system that very few citizens, local officials and State legislators understand.
The mandatory sexennial revaluation of Lake County property values in 2024, with taxes to be collected in 2025, will be a rude awakening for many citizens when they receive their property tax bill. It will be especially alarming for citizens in school districts that are at the 20 mill floor, where outside millage is treated as inside millage (unvoted).
In our opinion, this carve-out for the school districts to override the 10 mill floor of inside millage is one of the greatest deceptions ever played on the unsuspecting taxpayers by the State legislators.
Here is Commissioner Plecnik’s proposed resolution:
We urge all Lake County residents that object to paying taxes on unrealized gains on their property; and are concerned that they cannot continue to pay the ever-increasing property taxes, to appeal to Commissioner Hamercheck and Commissioner Regovich to support Commissioner Plecnick’s resolution appealing to State legislators to immediately address the property tax issue.
We will continue this fight for Lake County residents, along with a growing group of Ohioans, to change the Ohio property tax laws in a meaningful way. Property ownership is the foundation of our freedom and liberty, and we object to legislators, and County Auditors, that hold to the belief that if citizens cannot afford their property taxes, they should sell their home and move into an apartment!
ANY TAX THAT CAUSES A CITIZENS TO BECOME HOMELESS IS IMMORAL!
