Calling DOGE To Audit JobsOhio

Calling DOGE To Audit JobsOhio

By: Tom Niewulis, Geauga County

Where is the Ohio Version of DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) when Ohio needs jobs not profiteering?

Jobs Ohio is a little known Non-Profit that Gov. Kasich created in 2011 (ref. 1) to bring new jobs to Ohio but they only are profiters disguised as job developers. This private entity replace ’the state Department of Development.’ Yet, they have not produced jobs equal to the billions of dollars taken in (reference 2) as revenues. JobsOhio is akin to USAID but instead of fraudulently giving money away, they are not meeting their charter to bring solid economic development to Ohio. Their billions in revenues from liquor profits do not have anything to show for it.

Why this appeal now?

JobsOhio is demanding, February 12, 2025 that they receive a 15 year extension to billions of revenue from liquor sales in Ohio. Their existing contract does not expire until around 2038. The Ohio Attorney General finds this fishy at best, AG Yost Calls Out Ridiculous JobsOhio Contract Extension (ref. 3).

The Ohio Constitution allows for economic development but not by an unaccountable profiteering entity. JobsOhio is not transparent (ref. 4) providing few jobs from a Board of Directors personally making $2million a year in salaries.

Call To Action and why

Your call to action is to contact the State Attorney General and your legislators to stop the 15 year extension for JobsOhio having any further access to the $1.4 billion in state liquor profits.

Why?

First, This is an unaccountable Non-profit entity that has never been audited and independent investigative journalist question the value based on non-performance for the revenues taken in. The Legislature and Governor must demand a DOGE audit of JobsOhio.

Second, the Ohio Legislature has put forth a $2.4 billion Constitutional Amendment for infrastructure (ref. 5). The revenues from State Liquor sales going to a profiteering entity would be better used by the legislature for rural Ohio. Real jobs are created locally.

Remember, it was Kasich that messed up / cut funding for Villages and Townships in particular.

Act NOW to stop the give away of billions of dollars that would be better used for local government.
