Bravo Kirsten Hill of Lorain, Ohio

LFC Comments by Brian Massie, Executive Director

We are very happy to announce that community activist extraordinaire, Kirsten Hill, has announced her candidacy for the Ohio Senate.

Lorain, Ohio – Kirsten Hill submitted petitions on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, to be a candidate for Ohio Senate (District 13) on the 2022 Primary Election ballot.

District 13 covers all of Lorain County, the Eastern portion of Erie County, including the City of Huron, and the Northeast corner of Huron County, including the City of Norwalk. See current map here at the Ohio Secretary of State website.

Hill is a lifelong resident of Lorain County, except for a couple of years, and has been active in the county and throughout Ohio for many years. Currently, she is an elected member of Ohio’s State Board of Education (District 2) which directs education for Ohio children through high school. She was elected to the position in 2018 and has served on the board since 2019. District 2 is comprised of seven Northern Ohio counties; Erie, Fulton, Huron, Lorain, Lucas, Ottawa and Wood Counties.

Kirsten, along with her husband of 32 years, Andy, owned and operated Penton’s Farm Market in Amherst Township from the mid-1990’s until 2018. The market and farm was a Lorain County landmark and the place to go for fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh baked goods, deli, specialty foods and candies and seasonal products. In addition to operating the market, Hill hosted thousands of children and families over the years at Penton’s Pumpkin Patch, a seasonal educational and farm tour business. Cider-making demonstrations, pumpkin-picking and hayrides were standard fare.

Hill’s interest in serving the public is not new. She has a deep sense of responsibility to uphold the traditional American values of faith, family and freedom. She wants to see unwavering respect for our God-given rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Regarding family, Hill has two grown children. Her son, Kyle, is a computer engineer in Ohio. Her daughter, Nina, is completing her physician training at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Look for information about Kirsten Hill’s position on the important issues facing Ohio in the weeks to come.

The primary election is Tuesday, May 3, 2022. The voter registration deadline for this election is April 4th. To confirm your voter registration, to find your local voting location and for information about other candidates and issues on the ballot, visit the county board of elections website.
