Subject: Letter to the Editor – E-Check Scam
To Whom it May Concern:
Lake County residents have been dealing with the scourge of automobile emission testing [known as E-Check] since 1996. Lake County is one of seven counties, out of the total 88 counties, in Ohio still required to perform emissions testing.
It has become a needless, far too expensive, government mandate that really does nothing to protect or improve the environment. The improvements in our air quality are a results of the car manufacturers’ concerted efforts to enhance the efficiencies of our vehicles, and not from the ever-changing government policies of E-Check.
I would like to thank our State Representative Ron Young for all of his efforts helping me to resolve the E-Check problem. He was instrumental in creating Ohio House Resolution number 85, which was presented to the Interstate and Federalism Committee on March 28, 2017. It was passed by a vote of 72 to 25 to get rid of E-Check, but Lake County still is burdened with it.
I highly encourage all Lake County residents to contact State Senator John Eklund, and the new State Representative candidates, Jamie Callendar, and Rick Walker and express your displeasure with E-Check.
Sincerely,
Augie Landsmann
