U.S. Coast Guard Loss of Recruits Impacts Northeast Ohio says Sheriff Leonbruno

By Brian Massie, A Watchman on the Wall

At the July 30, 2024 Lake County Commissioners’ meeting Sheriff Frank Leonbruno addressed the Commissioners about the need for the proposed $180,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding.

The Sheriff explained that because of a declining number of recruits into the U.S. Coast Guard the stations between Cleveland and Ashtabula have been closed. I wonder what impact this will have on the citizens of Northeast Ohio.

Boaters may experience delays in assistance because of the closed stations. If they experience problems in deep water who do they call?

Is the Perry Nuclear Plant secure? Is our Northern border secure?

We are going to need much more than $180,000 to protect the citizens if the evil doers take advantage of the closed U.S. Coast Guard Stations.
