The ongoing saga of Leroy Township’s Christian Weiss speaking out against Commissioner John Plecnik got some serious pushback at the last Commissioners’ meeting.
Unfortunately, there is a visceral hatred between Commissioner John Plecnik and Commissioner John Hamercheck, and it has manifested itself at the Commissioners’ meeting far too long. At first, we thought that these two Christians could “turn the other cheek” and work together for Lake County citizens, but there is another Christian in the mix. His name is Christian Weiss, and this writer has had several interactions with him in the past – some good, such as working together to defeat a ridiculous Riverside School District levy.
However, in my opinion, Weiss crossed the line when he made, what I took to be verbal threats against me and the school board candidates I was helping. At the end of the following video, Weiss, after mentioning Scott Fishel, Kathy Fishel and Brian Massie by name, said “you guys have messed with the wrong Ranger, Rangers lead the way”. I filed for a Civil Protection Order against Weiss, because I took his threat very seriously.
As an aside, dealing with the magistrate system in Lake County, in my opinion, leaves a lot to be desired. I got the distinct impression that I was the guilty party for filing my request for a CPO, and the role of the magistrate, in my opinion, is to ensure customers for the legal system of Lake County.
I had a chance meeting two weeks ago with Mr. Weiss in front of the Administration building. I asked him directly what is his end game by continuing his weekly verbal assaults on Commissioner Plecnik. His response was “to make sure that John Plecnik never holds a public office again”. Mr. Weiss has created quite a legacy for the Weiss family name.
Since the public comments section of the Commissioners’ meeting are dividing the community, I suggested to Commissioner Plecnik that he may have to stop public comments all together if Weiss refuses to stop his rants. LFC can get our needed information directly from elected officials. Regrettably, the Commissioners usually do not comment on questions raised by citizens anyway, and the meetings have become less productive for taxpayers than the Lori Krenisky, Belinda Grassi led Riverside School Board meetings – and that is saying a lot.
One thing is for sure, we shall all “reap what we have sown”! The commandment to “love thy neighbor” appears to be nothing more of a suggestion for some people.
At the 6:56 minute mark of the following video you can listen to Christian Weiss’ latest rant against Commissioner Plecnik.
At the 10:20 minute mark Beverly Schilero, a Concord resident, speaks out against Leroy Township resident Christian Weiss.
Bravo, Bravo, Bravo Ms. Schilero…
Here is the transcript of what Ms. Schilero said:
“I do not ever have to be told to come to my community, in front of my Commissioners and stick up for things that I think are right and the public should now about.”
For months Chris Weiss has come to the Commissioners weekly meetings relentlessly insinuating and accusing Commissioner Plecnik of not being a good person. He stated that Mr. Plecnik received a sweetheart deal on an issue that has been resolved. In reality, Chris Weiss is the one that has received a number of sweetheart deals.
Let us not forget his three domestic violence charges against his ex-wife. All in the same year. His assault on a young lady working at Dairy Queen. Where he joked and said that was the most expensive ice cream that he ever had. The felony forgery charge, the felony tampering with evidence charge, all pled down. And after all that violence and criminal behavior Chris only spent 45 days and paid fines.
Now who does Chris Weiss know in our Lake County system that would allow such violence without the repercussions we know that others would suffer? As a past victim of domestic violence, I am very disheartened with these results. Chris likes to talk about his ethics. So let’s talk about that.
Chris often notes his Army Ranger status by declaring “Rangers lead the way” after many of his public outburst. However, after reading the Army Ranger creed, I question Chris Weiss’ loyalty to such an honorable stance that recognizes the Ranger for upholding the perceived and honor of their Ranger regiment. Acknowledging that the Ranger is an elite soldier, who can keep mentally alert and physically strong and morally straight and under no circumstance would he ever embarrass his country. But Chriss Weiss is not this man. The Chris Weiss we all know has a history based on violence toward women and willingness to break the law. A person who weekly displays his desire to continue such behavior by further harassing and bullying others.
I came before the Commissioners a few meetings ago to address the relentless rants of Chris Weiss towards Commissioner Plecnik. I no sooner left the building and Mr. Weiss was texting threatening messages to my phone. And he continues today putting threats through my mail.
Ok, we are talking about a person who allegedly does not even own a home in Lake County, or pay property taxes in our County. And it doesn’t count when your Mother pays it.
Commissioner Plecnik, I commend your tolerance and patience as you take the higher ground. Chris, I hope you get the help you so desperately need.
God Bless our community and our country.”
