The following letter explains why Nancy McArthur was asked to resign as Chairman of the Geauga Republican Party. Cavorting with Democrats can get you removed from office in Geauga – not so much in Lake County – where cavorting with Democrats is standard fare.

Geauga County’s Republican Chairman, Nancy McArthur, got some bad news yesterday from the other Republican leaders in her County. She has the option of submitting her resignation within five days, or she will be voted out per the Party’s bylaws.

“We the undersigned Republican Geauga County elected officials are writing to request your immediate resignation as Chair of the Geauga County Republican Party Central and Executive Committee. For many reasons, some of which will be detailed below, we have lost confidence in your leadership and believe that your continued service as Chair will have a negative impact on this upcoming critical election.”
“For the past several years, our meetings have been extremely contentious and unproductive. This has resulted in us losing our meeting space, lawsuits, and many party members not wanting to attend party meetings and events. You have been at the center of litigation that has drained the funds available to the party and the toxic environment that you have created has driven away members and donations. In fact, several elected officials have stopped or reduced donations to the Geauga GOP in recent years.”
“We are approaching a critical national and state election. For the first time in our memory, the Geauga County GOP does not have and will not have a headquarters for a presidential election. In one of the most reliably Republican counties in Ohio we will not have any physical space to use as a base of operations. This is an unprecedented failure in leadership. You ran twice against an incumbent Republican elected official which has caused deep divisions. Additionally, one of our longest serving and most stalwart members recently resigned as vice-chair of our Executive Committee because of the environment you have created.”
“Based on the foregoing, we are requesting that you resign as Chair of the Geauga County Republican Party Central and Executive Committee immediately. If you do not resign in five (5) days, by copy of this letter to the Central Committee, we are requesting that they petition for a special meeting pursuant to Article VII of the bylaws for the purpose of removing you as Chair.”
“Thank you for your kind attention to this matter. We hope that you do the right thing for our party, the candidates, and the voters.”
