March for Meals Returns to Great Lakes Mall March 29!
Council on Aging to raise funds for Meals on Wheels
[March 18, 2025 – Mentor, OH] – The Lake County Council on Aging will present its annual fundraiser, “March for Meals” on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Great Lakes Mall in Mentor. The event aims to highlight the importance of providing nutritious meals to seniors, particularly those who are homebound and may struggle with food insecurity.
“March for Meals is more than just a one-day event— It raises awareness about the ongoing daily challenges of senior hunger and isolation that many vulnerable seniors face, right here in Lake County,” said Joe Tomsick, CEO of the Council on Aging. “It’s important to keep the issue front and center in community conversations, not just during March, but in the months that follow. Our staff and volunteers work hard every day to ensure that seniors receive the nutrition and support they need to live independently and with dignity.”
Nationally, March for Meals is held during the month of March to highlight the importance of providing nutritious meals to seniors, particularly those who are homebound and may struggle with food insecurity. The Lake County Council on Aging has held this local event at the mall since 2005.
The Food Court doors open at 8:00am for registration and the event runs until 10:00am. Funds raised are used to support five nutrition sites in Lake County serving Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors.
The agency has a special website that has been set up for registration and the opportunity to purchase chances for several valuable raffle baskets that will be drawn on March 31st . Visit march4meals.org for all the details on how you can register as a walker, create a walk team, purchase a t-shirt, or purchase raffle basket tickets. The walker fee is $15 for adults; $5 for children 12 and under. Light morning snacks and coffee will be provided at the food court on the day of the event, and there will be several additional baskets drawn live on March 29th .
The top sponsor of the event is the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging and they are joined by over 70 other incredible monetary and in-kind sponsors. “Events like March for Meals encourage a sense of community responsibility,” said Tomsick. “It’s a powerful reminder that when we work together, we create a support system that benefits everyone.”

he Mission of the Lake County Council on Aging is to provide aging adults and their support system with services and opportunities that enable them to achieve an optimal, self-defined, quality of life.
