The Center for Community Solutions produces some very interesting statistics about each county in the State of Ohio. Here are some sobering numbers about Lake County:

Although I have no gift of prophecy, I am willing to predicate that the poverty numbers are going to increase, especially among the growing number of seniors in Lake County. They will not be able to withstand the onslaught of property taxes brought on by the increasing size of our political sub-divisions, and the insatiable appetite of our schools for more and more money to teach a declining enrollment.
Whether the schools’ need for more money is due to inflationary pressures, new buildings, or increased operating costs, it matters not to a senior living on a fixed income without any cost of living increases.
