Ageism……yes, that is a word

Ever hear of ageism?

age·ism
ˈājˌizəm/
noun
  1. prejudice or discrimination on the basis of a person’s age.
  2. LFC add:  By extension, we would then say that a person that discriminates based on a person’s age is an “ageist”
Thanks to Lobbyists Kim for this information about revisions in the Ohio Revised Code that deals with protecting the Seniors in our community.

R.C. 5101.63 was amended to require new professions to report cases of suspected elder abuse and financial exploitation. Effective September 29, 2018, the following professions are required to immediately report if they have reasonable cause to believe that an adult is being abused, neglected, or exploited, or is in a condition which is the result of abuse, neglect, or exploitation:

These professions will join attorneys, physicians, dentists, nurses, chiropractors, psychologists, pharmacists, social workers, and family therapists as mandated reporters.

  1. Commenting from Crazy-California!!! Wait till you see how these can be abused by a bunch of highly educated meddlers working out their own childhood issues, taking over your life and your finances and using these “nice” laws to keep your children & those that really care, out!!!!!
The over abused HIPPA law can be used just this way when the “Staff” says, your loved-one no longer wants to talk to you and the Social Workers tell you to just “leave your loved-one alone”, as if you are can just do that.
It’s all presented so nicely with no plan-B when these laws go wrong.
