We saw this article on the Cleveland 19 website posted a few days ago.

It provides the names, ages and pictures of those alleged to be involved in this heinous crime.  It caught my attention because a couple of weeks ago I had a random conversation with Mr. Matt Battiato, Executive Director of Lake County Job and Family Services, about human trafficking in Lake County.

I asked Matt if he, in his role in Family Services, is aware of any incidents of human trafficking in Lake County. He said that although it is probably happening, it has not been brought to his attention at Job and Family Services.

However, he did say that he is aware of a significant number incidents in the Northwest Ohio portion of the State.  This is due to the high number of interconnecting highways that allow easy transportation.  Another interesting fact is that this evil is “home grown” and not necessarily imported from outside of the country.

Matt does an outstanding job at Job and Family Services, and has the total confidence of the three County Commissioners.  We will reach out again to Matt to see if there are any updates that we can share with the taxpayers of Lake County.
