We were happy to support a fundraiser for Operation STAT and the Free Kids Lunch program offered by the Flavors on the Vine restaurant in Eastlake. The fundraiser will continue every Wednesday through the end of July, and 25% of the sales are donated to the charities. A very generous donation by the owners of the restaurant.
We were met by Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe. Social distancing was optional. Not sure who the other guy is in the picture – we think he was impersonating a reporter. The Marilyn impersonator was Sherri Falkenberg – CEO of Lake Events LLC, Campaign Manager for Michael Zuren Candidate for Lake County Treasurer, Council Member Elect, Village of Timberlake.
“Joltin’ Joe” was none other than Mike Zuren – Eastlake Councilman and Candidate for Lake County Treasurer. As impressive as Joe DiMaggio’s 56 game hitting streak was (still a record for major league baseball), Mike Zuren has an impeccable streak of community support and service. He is a tireless worker for the Eastlake businesses and residents.
Since we have given this forum to others running for elected office in November, we asked Mike a few questions about why he wants to be the Lake County Treasurer, his qualifications, and what does he anticipate doing if he is elected?
Here is Mike’s reply:
“The reason I am running for Lake County Treasurer is due to my education and experience. I have 30 years experience in Banking/Real Estate and a PhD. and MBA. I believe my credentials will help allow me to serve the residents of Lake County and hold the standards of the Treasurer’s Office to the highest level.”
“I would like to focus on implementing cost savings, upgrading the software, offer online payment for property taxes, investigate safe but beneficial investment options for taxpayer monies, and develop a friendly accommodating culture.”
“My approach would be that as a public servant in the Treasurer’s office I will be accountable, responsive, and honest with tax payers and other government entities.”
“I also believe that elected officials have the ability to connect local businesses, government agencies, non-profits, and volunteers to help better serve the public.”
“Volunteering to help others so they can overcome their struggles and see them eventually volunteering to help others overcome their struggles is my strongest core belief. This year the free kids lunch program (in Painesville and Willowick), spotlighting businesses, holding Vine Street Corridor Meetings and Non-Profit Meetings, and fundraising for kids and veterans, has truly been a blessing.”
[LFC Comments: We wish Mike good luck in his run for the Lake County Treasurer’s position. We can attest that he is a very dedicated public servant.]
