LFC Comments by “Average Citizen”:
While attending a Lake County Commissioners’ meeting, we heard about the $396 million that the County had invested. We were curious about the investment levels for the last few years so we sent a records request to the Lake County Treasurer’s Office. We summarized the records sent to us in a worksheet, and then created a chart for your review.
The investment dollars are not all in the General Fund. For example, the Deepwood Center has $65 million of the total $396 million. The investment income received on the $65 million does not benefit Deepwood, but goes into the General Fund to be spent by the Commissioners.
