Ohio GOP Takes Big Money from Teachers’ Unions

Linda Harvey

As Ohioans consider candidates during this election year, let’s think about our values and who we will support.

For instance, most of us are well aware by now of the pro-abortion, far left, pro-Democrat, pro-LGBTQ, pro-DEI actions of America’s teachers’ unions: the National Education Association (NEA) and American Federation of Teachers (AFT). Their huge coffers fund issues and candidates who proudly oppose biblical values.

No Christian should support, by actions or dollars, any of the big teachers’ unions. We lost Issue 1 last November in Ohio and one reason is that we were outspent. The NEA and OEA together donated nearly $2 million to convince Ohioans to defeat the August voting threshold issue and then to pass November’s Issue 1– in other words, ensuring that Ohio now has legal abortion on demand, with no limits on late -term destruction of unborn human life.

These are really hard-hearted people. To take that position against your future students and generously fund it, you have to be deeply corrupted.

I have reported on the NEA annual meetings in detail over the years, revealing what policy positions they adopt. The union is largely successful in rolling out a campaign of harmful Marxist indoctrination in our schools, except for the positive obstacle of some parent groups and organizations (like ours) pushing back.

If you want to read more, prepare to be shocked. Go HERE to the search results on our web site.

In Ohio, the teachers’ unions are the Ohio Education Association (OEA) and the Ohio Federation of Teachers. We know that these groups heavily donate to Democrats. On a side note, I was once briefly a member of the OEA as a young teacher after my building principal strong-armed me into joining. Thank goodness, my membership ended in the 1970s.

I decided to check out whether any Ohio Republicans accept teacher union donations.

It turns out, some do. This is alarming when we realize that teacher union influence is wrecking our schools as well as our culture. A growing group of Republicans want the Ohio GOP to take an official stance against endorsing any candidate who accepts teacher union funds. Go HERE for details.

Below are the results of our search for recent Ohio Republican lawmakers accepting union funds in the past few years from the website, Open Secrets.
