Fireworks at the July 25th Commissioners’ Meeting

By Brian Massie, A Watchman on the Wall, A Populist, and a Christian Nationalist

Oh, what a Commissioners’ meeting we had on the 5th Floor of the Lake County Administration building today (July 25, 2024).

  1. Citizen David Lima called for the separation of church and state after Commissioner Plecnik read a Bible verse at last week’s meeting. Commissioner Plecnik was, in our opinion, called a Christian Nationalist as if that was meant as a smear. Commissioner Hamercheck defended Commissioner Plecnik, but Plecnik sided with Mr. Lima.

What is Christian Nationalism, you may ask?

    2) I spoke to the Commissioners about saving $250,000 per year by eliminating their Newsletters and Refrigerator Magnets that have cost the taxpayers $748,826.49 since 2021.

    3) The City of Painesville representatives spoke at the meeting and thanked Commissioner John Hamercheck for securing the largest grant ($80 million), ever awarded to a Lake County municipality.

Unfortunately, neither Commissioner Regovich or Commissioner Plecnik congratulated Commissioner Hamercheck for his efforts on behalf of the County and the City of Painesville.

    4) Matt Hebebrand, Lake County Republican Central Committeeman and Lakeland Community College Board member, verbally attacks Willoughby Hills Mayor Chris Hallum and County Commissioner John Hamercheck because his name was mentioned by Christian Weiss during his public comments at a previous Commissioners meeting.

At approximately the 6:05 minute mark of the following video, Mr. Weiss mentions Matt Hebebrand’s name. Weiss stated that Mr. Hebebrand, at the request of Party leaders, brought a censure action against Mayor Chris Hallum to the Republican Party meeting last fall. That is all that was said.

So based on Mr. Hebebrand not liking his name being mentioned by Christian Weiss in the public meeting, he felt he needed to set the record straight and state why he thought Chris Hallum should be censured. However, we cannot understand Hebebrand’s obsession to throw Commissioner Hamercheck “under the bus” on a totally unrelated matter.

It would lead one to wonder if Hebebrand has willingly joined the ongoing feud between Commissioners Plecnik and Hamercheck. Hebebrand is a former law student of Commissioner Plecnik, and perhaps that loyalty remains unbreakable.

In my opinion, there is a visceral hatred between the two Commissioners, which has caused them to forget their Christian teachings.

For the record, I was personally involved in the quest to determine if there was voter fraud in Lake County back in 2020. I have written many articles about my involvement trying to protect the citizens and the Lake County Board of Elections. My name was given to the F.B.I. by some Lake County official, and I was interrogated by four F.B.I. agents for one and one-half hours on my involvement. After replaying the whole series of events many times in my mind, I have come to the conclusion that Commissioner Hamercheck was part of a sting operation to rope in Lake County officials as part of on the whole Mike Lindell, Dr. Doug Frank and Conan Hayes fiasco.

Dr. Frank told me directly that Conan Hayes was a computer expert. That may be so, but the Washington Post also revealed that Hayes was a professional surfer from Hawaii that had a company that sold T-shirts.

I can say without any hesitation: NO ONE IN LAKE COUNTY WAS TRYING TO IMPACT ANY ELECTION RESULTS!

Commissioner Hamercheck and I have had many battles over the years. However, as a Christian I cannot just sit back, and let another human being be unjustly criticized and vilified. I plead with my Christian friends to find some way to make amends, and work together for the best interests of the Lake County citizens.
