Prosecutor Charles Coulson’s Rubber Stamp Budget Commission

By Brian Massie, A Watchman on the Wall

Here is a video of the Lake County Budget Commission “rubber stamping” the Lake County taxing authorities collection of inside and outside millage without any thought about the millions of dollars accumulated in the “rainy day funds” by the taxing authorities. We are still at a loss to figure out why time is wasted just reading out the millage rates.

The new property values for 2024, with the property taxes to be collected in 2025, will be sent to the homeowners by the Auditor’s office in the next view weeks. For those living on Lake Erie, your land and property values are about increase by percentages you will not believe. We saw one property in Timberlake increase by 86% in value.

We have been warning citizens for quite some time about the ever-increasing property taxes. Citizens will soon realize why we have been warning our State legislators. Unfortunately, the State Representatives were so unconcerned they decided to censor my speech before the State Committee on Property Tax Reform and Review. Freedom of speech is a fleeting Utopian ideal in the Ohio State Legislature.

State legislators did not believe that the increased home values would impact their election in November. They were so unconcerned about the seniors and other citizens, they opted to go on vacation until after the November elections.

It is time that our State Representatives and Senators get the message:

ANY TAX THAT CAUSES A CITIZEN TO BECOME HOMELESS IS IMMORAL!

Nothing will change until the legislators wake up to the plight of citizens losing their homes. It is up to citizens to let their representatives know that their political careers will be cut short if the property tax issue is not resolved.
