NEA Exposed: Teachers Union Hijacked by Radical Left, Funnels Millions of Dues Into Political Activism and Ideological Indoctrination
New financial filings expose what many parents and teachers have long suspected: the National Education Association (NEA) has abandoned its mission to support educators and has instead become a radical political machine, using millions of dollars in mandatory union dues to advance far-left ideology and partisan causes.
Reports reveal the NEA donated $500,000 to an Ohio organization working directly against Ohioans during the congressional redistricting process, interfering in the state’s political process with teachers’ money. Additional filings show the NEA has funneled millions of dollars to far-left organizations in recent years, confirming the union’s role as a political activist group rather than an advocate for classroom excellence.
Even more alarming, NEA spending records show hundreds of thousands of dollars poured into race-based and ideological “equity” initiatives. The NEA paid more than $166,000 to Imagine Us, LLC, a firm dedicated to racial equity training, and tens of thousands more to groups promoting so-called “social justice education”—including curriculum materials focused on race, gender identity, and political activism for K–12 students.
“This is what happens when a teachers union is overtaken by political extremists,” said Mika Hackner, Director of Research at the North American Values Institute. “Instead of representing teachers, the NEA is spending massive sums on radical political projects that most teachers neither want nor benefit from—but that perfectly align with the ideological agenda now controlling union leadership.”
John Stover, President of Ohio Value Voters, issued a strong rebuke of the NEA’s actions: “The leadership of the NEA is far-left radicals who are misusing the hard-earned union dues of Ohio teachers to push divisive and ideological agendas. This is not education—this is indoctrination. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) ideology has no place in Ohio’s K–12 classrooms. Ohio Value Voters calls on the Ohio General Assembly to immediately pass House Bill 155 and Senate Bill 113 to prohibit the teaching of DEI in Ohio’s public schools. Our children deserve real education—not political conditioning.”
Ohio Value Voters warns that until decisive action is taken, the NEA will continue exploiting teachers, misleading parents, and injecting radical ideology into classrooms under the false banner of education.
