Concord Fire Levy Issue 1…the real facts, no lies, deceptions or betrayals

Here are the REAL FACTS about the Issue 1 Fire Levy on the November 3rd ballot. Do not be deceived by the Concord officials. The Prouty Road Fire Station should have been built 10 years ago, but prior Township officials needlessly spent the money on a proposed Town Center that the majority of residents did not want. They arbitrarily chose not to allocate the adequate resources to provide basic services even after the voters passed a continuing safety levy years ago.

Asking for another property tax increase, which collects $2 million more than is needed, displays a very serious lack of concern for the residents of Concord. We expect officials to be fiscally responsible at all times, but especially during these uncertain financial times. Seniors and those living on fixed incomes are being priced out of their homes with the ever-increasing property taxes, and the CoVid19 pandemic will cause inflationary pressures that will further erode the buying power of those on fixed incomes.

Concord’s Administrator, Andrew Rose, and Fire Chief, Matt Sabo, have promoted a cancel culture in the community, targeting specific residents that do not agree with them. Using deceptive practices on the NextDoor app with the intent to divide and conquer, adjudicating a resident’s guilt by association, and naming a specific long-time Concord resident for cancelling is, to say the least, very disturbing.

For these actions, we are asking that the Concord Trustees, as the ultimate authority, remove both Mr. Rose and Mr. Sabo for their conduct that is detrimental to the community. We need officials that unite, rather than divide the community. If you take no action, we will use Mr. Andrew Rose’s new standard for finding someone guilty in Concord – “you are guilty by association!”

We feel betrayed!

Brian Massie, Concord Resident for 14 years.
