Subject: Is SEL mandatory?
Just in case your Superintendent tells you that SEL is State law. I am hearing from some school board members that their Superintendents are telling the public that Social Emotional Learning is the law. Either they do not know or they hope you do not know the truth. Why pay membership to BASA ( Superintendents club, sister to school boards associations) if they do not keep our administrators well informed? We all need to be truthful to our communities or we lose credibility. The schools that allow SEL in their curriculum are doing it by choice.
