Do your elected officials really care about you?
Clerk Faith Andrews attended the clown show that pretends to be a Commissioners’ meeting yesterday to provide some very interesting news.
Seems she is on the Legislative Committee for the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association; and at their last conference she was presented with the below spreadsheet of potential salary increases for the Clerk of Courts. The Clerks are proposing an 11% “raise” and the judges are asking for a 30% “raise.”
Every County elected official is a member of a state association like the Clerk of Courts. Clerk Andrews has learned that many other county elected officials are also vying for a “raise” in this lame duck session along with and most importantly, the state legislature.
In fact, Clerk Andrews was told by a former Ohio legislator that is now an appointed Clerk for another county that the legislature does not care about any legislation that we may be suggesting as the only focus for the legislature is giving themselves a raise in this lame duck session…after you vote them in to office.
(Republican/Democrat are both working together on this one…goody for us!). So on the cusp of the biggest property tax increase in history, as well as the levies on the November 5th ballot for schools, townships and cities, these “public servants”
are going to quietly give themselves a raise.
They are really trying to get this pushed through in lame duck because they know if they can’t get it done now they will have to wait four more years to try again.
We encourage every Lake County citizen to call their county and state elected officials to tell them that you do NOT believe they deserve a raise at all, especially when we are already being taxed to death by the parasite that is government at all levels.
Folks needs to wake up before the parasite completely destroys the host. Call your county officials and tell them to go back to their associations and tell them
not to pursue this increase in pay! They work for you. Does their performance warrant a merit increase? In what company can an employee just give themselves a raise regardless of performance?
How many of you have gotten a 30% raise? The judges should be ashamed of that ask. Despicable!
Don’t you find it intriguing that all of a sudden both Dems and Republicans at both the local and state level can work so diligently and secretly together on this? Do you need any more proof that the two- party system is simply a mechanism to make you think you actually have a choice?
Both parties have the same goal, and eventually the elected officials all cave to the system because they are weak and cowardly. Don’t forget, Ron Young finally told us the truth about that…AFTER he spent most of his adult life in government completing his illustrious career as a Lake County Commissioner. I will say that Ron
never hid behind his staff at the State House. He always made time for the people when they showed up at his office in Columbus.
So, do you REALLY think your elected officials care about you? They pretend to during election time. Then they go back to their cushy offices, they call you stupid, and you won’t see them again for another 4 years. If they cared about the people they are supposed to serve, would they try to secretly give themselves raises when they know what’s coming down the pike in the way of taxes? Look at what they
do…not what they say.
Who in the County has given money back to the people…why that would be
Recorder Lynch and Clerk Andrews…because they are NOT politicians…they are true public servants.

Question for all Lake County seniors: “How many of you got a 30% increase in your social security check?
The Clerk of Courts position is expecting to see an annual increase of approximately 11%. Salaries are dependent on the County’s population. For Lake County the population number used is 232,603.
The Lake County Clerk’s new salary, depending on which scenario is accepted, could be $101,823 – $121,392 in 2025, and by 2027 the annual salary could range from $105,418 – $131,286.
Here is a link to judges’ current salaries and benefits. It appears that in the current lame duck session, the current law governing the judges’ salary and benefits will need to be changed to grant a very healthy 30% increase. If you see a judge “beaming from ear to ear”, you will now know why they are having trouble wiping the smile off their face.
My only encounter with a Lake County magistrate by the name of Spangler left me with the feeling that I would like a refund on my County property taxes. His role seemed to be to find “customers” for the Lake County judicial system.
“The salaries of judges in Ohio are set by statute. Senate Bill 296 of the 132nd General Assembly includes a series of 1.75% annual pay increases over a nine-year period (2020-2028). The table below shows the total base salary for judges and justices of the state’s various courts from 2024 through 2028 and beyond. Salaries for judges of the courts of common pleas and municipal and county courts are comprised of a portion paid by the state and a portion paid by the local governments under the jurisdiction of the court as described below the table.”
It will be interesting to see if the Lake County judges accept the 30% pay increase!
Stay tuned…we will be reporting on it for our readers.
