Concord Township Accused of Violating Ohio’s Open Meeting Act…updated May 28th, 2025

By Brian Massie, A Watchman on the Wall

It seems as though the Portage Bounty Hunter has caught Concord Township allegedly violating the Ohio’s Open Meetings Act. Here is a copy of Mr. Brian Ames’ lawsuit against the township. It is alleged that the Trustees held an invalid executive session.

What does Mr. Ames want from the Township?

(1) Order Respondent Concord Township Board of Trustees to pay to Relator [Brian Ames] a five hundred dollar civil forfeiture for each violation as mandated by R.C. 121.22(I)(2)(a).
(g)

(2) Award to Relator Brian M. Ames, under R.C. 121.22(I)(2)(a), all his court costs and any reasonable attorney’s fees he may incur.

If my math is correct, four counts at $500 each or $2,000 plus court costs and his attorney’s fees.

Tsk, Tsk, Trustee McIntosh….we shall be watching for the results of this lawsuit.
