Northeast Ohio Vigil for Charlie Kirk at Painesville Assembly of God

Northeast Ohio Vigil for Charlie Kirk
at Painesville Assembly of God
this Friday, September 19th

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – On September 19, 2025, the faith community of Lake County is coming together in prayer to host a vigil at Painesville Assembly of God on 10949 Johnnycake Ridge Road to mourn the loss of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and celebrate his life. The vigil is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the vigil begins at 7:00 p.m.

A few months before Charlie Kirk was assassinated, he was asked, in the event of his death, “how do you want to be remembered?” Mr. Kirk replied, “I want to be remembered for courage for my faith. That would be the most important thing. The most important thing is my faith.”

“As Christians, we have faith that death is not the end. ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).’ We die with the hope of rising again and the promise of eternal salvation. Although countless Americans mourn the loss of Charlie Kirk, we share his faith that all who die in Christ will rise in Christ,” said Pastor Aaron Taylor of Painesville Assembly of God.

“In the Gospel of John, Jesus teaches, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit (John 12:24).’ All of us are called to lay down our lives for others in different ways. Some are called to make the ultimate sacrifice, while others are called to sacrifice their lives one day at a time in service to their neighbors. Like Charlie Kirk, we must be ready to sacrifice in order to leave this world a better place,” said Pastor James Porostosky of Lakeshore Assembly of God.

“Please join us this Friday evening to remember the life of Charlie Kirk, and to pray for America. Now more than ever, we need the power of prayer. Our community is deeply grateful to Painesville Assembly of God for opening their doors to host this vigil, and to the many pastors and faith leaders who are working together to organize this solemn service,” said Lake County Commissioner John Plecnik.
