Dan Troy Running Again…Power is very intoxicating

From Dan Troy’s Facebook page:

Daniel P. Troy today announced his candidacy for the office of State Representative for the 60th District in western Lake County.

The former Lake County Commissioner, State Representative, and Willowick City Council President will be running for the open seat currently held by John Rogers (who is term limited) in 2020.

(LFC Comments: We should have guessed that Troy was going to run for Rogers’ Rep. position when we saw them at this year’s Mentor Headland’s parade.  That seems to be a “coming out party” for local politicians – they get to mingle with the little people. (Commissioner Jerry Cirino and Jason Wuliger (Commisioner in training) have also used this parade to get some face time in front of the voters.)

(LFC Comments:  We could not help smiling when we read the platform that Mr. Troy will use to win in 2020.  We have been speaking about this problem for over two years.  Troy will use this to get elected in 2020.  It is really unfortunate that the Republicans have NOT seen fit to fight for seniors.  We predict that they will pay the price at the ballot box in 2020.  However, please remember both parties have been trading the political positions for years, and keep trotting out the same old horses out of their barn. Name recognition is key in politics.)

Troy’s Platform:
“The former Ohio House Ways and Means Chairman believes it is time to promote significant changes in Ohio’s property tax system to not only make it more understandable, but also fairer to those living on fixed incomes.

He also wants to reverse the disintegration of the state’s fiscal partnership with local government entities – schools, cities, counties, libraries, etc. – that has resulted in local taxpayers facing a plethora of increased or new property tax levies to offset these state cuts.

As our senior citizen population in Lake County and Ohio rapidly increases, Troy believes that we must not only reduce their property tax burden, but also protect them from the explosion of telephone scams and sordid practices that attempt to separate them from their money.”

(LFC Comments:  All we can say to Mr. Troy is “WELCOME TO THE PARTY, PAL – BETTER LATE THAN NEVER”…it is truly unfortunate that we cannot get Jamie Callender (State Rep. District 61) to get on the bandwagon to help seniors.

Hey, Dan….can we send you an invoice for creating that platform for you?  Wonder what platform good ole Jerry will be using for his State Senate seat?)
