The issue of illegal aliens in Lake County has been a very interesting and perplexing one for me to understand.  I always thought that we are a nation of laws, and that everyone, including our elected officials are supposed to follow those laws. There are local officials that have sworn an oath to defend the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Ohio.  Not only are they to defend the Constitutions, but are also supposed to ensure the safety and security of U.S. Citizens and others legally entitled to live in the U.S.  If anyone reading this disagrees with this basic premise, please let me know where my logic is faulty.

When I objectively look at the elected Lake County officials I ask myself:  Who has, in their basic job description, a mandate to protect and ensure the safety of Lake County residents?  I concluded that there are three basic positions: Sheriff, Prosecutor, and County Commissioners.  Allow me to relate my experiences when dealing with these three positions regarding the illegal alien issue.

Lake County Sheriff:
When I read an article that several Ohio Sheriff’s Department had signed a resolution supporting ICE, I sent an email to our current Sheriff, and asked him why his name is not on the list.  His curt, and quite frankly, disappointing response was basically that he had signed an oath of office when he took his office, and he does not have to respond to taxpayers, “every time one of you” (his callous words) sees something on-line.  His dismissive attitude toward a taxpayer left me puzzled.  I followed up with another elected official, and was told “everyone knows that the Sheriff is “wobbly” on illegal aliens.

The following article will show you a real Constitutional Sheriff interested in protecting the citizens, and not bowing either to political correctness, or the pressure of industries that need an unending supply of cheap labor (legal or illegal), or churches that need more parishioners because their false prophets have alienated citizens, corrupted the Word of God, and, consequently,  their bank account has been negatively impacted……….Isaiah 5:20

Obviously, we cannot depend on our local Sheriff to really be on the right side of this issue.

Lake County Prosecutor:

Over a year ago, I attended a meeting in Painesville dealing with illegal aliens.  The Lake County Prosecutor was in attendance, in addition to a judge and the Painesville Police Chief.

The Prosecutor admitted at that public meeting that he will not deal adversely with any illegal aliens, because he may need them to help solve a crime in the community.  He said he was sorry, but the solving the crime was of paramount importance to him.

In our opinion, our own elected prosecutor does not mind violating Title 8, Section 1324 of the U.S. Immigration Law- Aiding and Abetting Illegal Aliens.

The score is now 2-0 in favor of illegal aliens.

Lake County Commissioners:

It all started at the Commissioners’ doorstep.  They had a chance to protect Lake County residents, but they bowed to the Nursery Lobbyists because it is well known how much they mean to the economic development of Lake County (or so it is alleged), and if they could get some additional voters on their side of the ledger, what’s not to like?

In 2005, Commissioner Dan Troy, after being lobbied by the Mexican government,  introduced a resolution (Sines and Aufuldish were also Commissioners at the time) accepting the Mexican Matricular Consular Card as a “legal” form of identity for individuals from Mexico.

In 2010, concerned citizens were begging Troy to rescind the Mexican Matricular Consular Card as a form of identification fearing for the safety of Lake County residents.   Troy, in his usual cavalier attitude when pressed on an issue, dismissed the card as irrelevant.

In 2014, in an election for County Commissioner, Troy was opposed by Kimberly Laurie, and on her platform she included the rescinding of the Mexican Matricular Card.   Troy narrowly won the election, but Lake County lost the battle for their safety and security.  In effect, we had been sold out.

In 2015, the lack of concern of our elected officials came “home to roost”.   Those stalwarts of the community with “protection of the citizens” as the most important part of their job, failed us.  Does the name Juan Razo mean anything to you?  Allow us to refresh your memory:

So to satisfy political correctness and to get the cheap labor for the nurseries, a Concord resident had to lose her life, and other citizens had to be assaulted. I wonder how those three Commissioners sleep at night knowing their actions led to the death of a Lake County resident.

How do the Lake County nurseries factor into this whole sordid affair?  Remember they lobbied the Commissioners for help to obtain the cheap labor for the work in their fields.  We were absolutely shocked when Mr. Mark Gilson, of Gilson Nursery in Perry, admitted publicly at the recent Commissioners’ meeting that he hired Juan Razo for one day.  It makes one wonder what form of identification Mr. Razo used to find employment with Gilson Nursery?

The score is now 3 for the illegal aliens, and 0 for Lake County law abiding citizens.

Our news media is also complicit in this world of political correctness.  Did you notice the political  correctness of Cleveland.com in the link at the beginning of this article?  They used “undocumented immigrant” when the correct term is “illegal alien”.  When I wrote a “letter to the editor” of the News-Herald, the editor changed my use of “illegal alien” to “undocumented immigrant”.  When asked why they changed the term, they told me that a corporate decision was made never to use the term “illegal alien”.  I then said that they are bowing at the altar of political correctness, and they said: “I guess you can say that.”

The score is now 4 – 0 in favor of the illegal aliens.

This brings us to the current resolution proposed by Commissioner Jerry Cirino to support the Department of Homeland Security’s, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.   Commissioner Hamercheck helped Cirino  write the final resolution.   We, at Lobbyists For Citizens, express a huge thank you to Commissioner Cirino for being the very first Lake County politician to publicly step up and take a position that we are not a sanctuary county and that we should support the rule of law in order to protect our citizens. (It amazes us that politicians are afraid to state this obvious fact, but it seems that they fear something or someone.  They certainly do not fear those law abiding conservatives.)

This resolution was met with outrage from those citizens that would be considered progressive, leftists, liberals, communists, socialists, and false prophets.  Consequently, the resolution was tabled, and a public meeting was to be held to try to have a meeting of the minds.  The meeting was held, but it was more of a rally by those not in favor of enforcing the laws of the land.

At the next Commissioners meeting, things went from bad to worse when Commissioners Troy and Hamercheck banded together to stick it to the Lake County law abiding taxpayers again. They voted 2-1 to table the resolution indefinitely, with  Commissioner Troy saying that they should not take sides and that they should walk away from the issue.  So once again Commissioner Troy caves to political correctness, but what is very surprising is the vote by Commissioner Hamercheck.  He helped craft the resolution, and then does not vote for it  – that logic does not makes sense.  The only conclusion is that Commissioner Hamercheck never believed in the resolution in the first place.

We hope and pray that there is not another murder or assault in Lake County by an illegal alien. If there is, then there will be politicians and nursery owners with blood on their hands again.

Remember Kate Steinle, Mollie Tibbetts, and our neighbor Margaret Kostelnik, who lived on Ravenna Road in Concord Township.  Ms. Kostelnik was savagely killed in her own home!  What do these women have in common?  They were American citizens killed by illegal aliens; all their deaths were preventable, but remember our local politicians, and even the Morley Library Trustees believe illegal aliens have more rights than U.S. citizens.  Isaiah 5:20….judgment day is coming…

Warning to all law abiding taxpayers in Lake County:   Please be aware that we have no one, except Jerry Cirino,  that has our back on the issue of illegal immigration.  The Sheriff, the Prosecutor, and Commissioners Troy and Hamercheck have all bowed at the altar of political correctness.  Shame on all of them.
