Job & Family Services / Lifeline…joined by $10,000 in Title XX Funds

We sent the following letter to the Executive Director of the Lake County Job and Family Services in response to the posting on their website asking for comments on the distribution of the Title XX funds received from the Federal government.

We are an ardent supporters of JFS because of the great work they do in the community.  However, we must depart from them on this issue, since we are adamantly opposed to using taxpayer funds for any abortion related services.  As we have been telling everyone, it is time to stand up and be counted, and not just accept everything that is happening in the community.  We will let everyone know the response we get from JFS.

Re: Title XX Funding

Dear Mr. Battiato:

The purpose of this letter is to express our deepest concerns for use of the Federal funds given to the Lake County Job & Family Services department under the Title XX program.

You had previously stated to us that JFS provides $10,000 of the Title XX funds received to the organization known as Lifeline for their 211 service.

Since Lifeline is involved in providing abortion advice to Lake County residents, we are adamantly opposed to the diversion of JFS funds, meant for protecting the most vulnerable in our community, to an organization that provides abortion services.

Although it may be argued that the funds are going for their 211 service, money is fungible, and it means that they have another $10,000 that can be used for abortion services.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide us with a written response, so that we may share it with all Lake County taxpayers.

Sincerely,

Brian Massie, President
