Thanks to a Concord lobbyist for this “heads up” on this increasingly political battle.
The current Municipal Court judge, Michael Cicconetti is retiring soon.
Multiple sources have told us Concord Trustee, Paul Malchesky, would like to add the title Municipal Court Judge to his resume.
Gabe Cicconetti, a Painesville Township Trustee and the judge’s son, is leading the battle to get the Riverside School to donate the land behind the Hadden School to his Township. He is asking residents to flood the Riverside school board members, those that blocked the land donation, with emails demanding that the land be donated to Painesville Township. https://www.news-herald.com/news/lake-county/painesville-township-riverside-school-board-differ-on-hadden-elementary-land/article_08eeb80a-c2a2-11e9-85da-978ba6ce671a.html
It appears the Concord Trustees, led by future Lake County Municipal judge nominee Paul Malchesky , have entered the battle between both parties. Here is their letter to the Riverside School Board supporting the donation of the land. TRUSTEE LETTER TO RIVERSIDE SCHOOLS
The following was written by one of our Concord lobbyists with edits by LFC.
In today’s News-Herald, and article states that Mentor is SELLING their properties, not giving them away. https://www.news-herald.com/news/lake-county/mentor-schools-rejects-bid-moves-to-private-sale-on-brentmoor/article_910378cc-fdb1-11e8-9e2d-93a46df2a8a5.html
These same trustees need to invest in their community. The Concord Trustees have no business “sticking their nose” in Riverside’s business by passing a resolution to support the Painesville Township Trustees in obtaining the land free.
These same trustees did not even want Riverside to build an elementary school in their town. Shame on them! They wasted $300,000 of the taxpayer dollars in legal fees, trying to block it. However, the Concord Trustees have no problem asking residents to pay for a $10m bond levy for 28 years costing $7m in interest to construct an over-sized (24,000 sq. ft.) Fire station.
Concord Trustees, namely Paul Malchesky, Connie Luhta and Carl Dondorpher, should have worked with the officials at Painesville Twp. to house the Prouty Rd. Fire Operation in order to construct a reasonably priced new fire station with JEDD money rather than wait three years from now. Poor judgement in my opinion.
These actions by the Concord Township Trustees smack of pure and simple politics
