Excerpts from the article:

U.S. Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) on Monday announced that he will not seek re-election in 2022 and will retire from the Senate at the end of his current term.

Portman’s retirement is also likely to trigger an intense Republican primary battle for the nomination for Senate. Speculative candidates mentioned by the Enquirer include Rep. Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican Party Chairwoman Jane Timken, former state Treasurer Josh Mandel, and “Hillbilly Elegy” author J.D. Vance.

LFC Comments: We were at a Portman meet and greet event. It was all staged. We had to write our questions on a note card, and he got to choose which questions he answered. Portman is a never Trumper, a Democrat ‘Lite’ and not a man of the people. He is the consummate swamp dweller, and will not be missed.

We did hear that Amy Acton, formerOhio Medical Director under DeWine, is being considered to run for his Senate seat. It would not surprise us if the Democrat ‘Lite’ party would support a liberal Democrat for the Senate seat.

Jim Jordan would be someone we could support.
