National Motorists Association

LFC Comments: Thanks to a Portage County lobbyist for providing us with this information on an organization that is fighting against the leftists’ desire to get us to stop using automobiles. [Motorists.org]

The National Motorists Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Federal Tax ID Number 39-1951971) consisting of an alliance of motorists joined together to protect drivers’ rights in the courts, on the streets, and in our vehicles. NMA members number in the thousands, and are active in all 50 states as well as in several provinces of Canada. Its main offices are located at 1001 Arboretum Dr., Suite 120, Waunakee, WI 53597-2670.

The NMA has empowered drivers since 1982. We fight for the driving freedoms of motorists. We promote traffic regulations and enforcement actions based on safety considerations, not to generate revenue for other programs.

Speed Limits

The NMA believes that speed limits should be based on sound traffic-engineering principles that consider motorists’ reasonable and prudent travel speeds.

Motorists are one of the largest special interest groups in the world. The number of licensed drivers in the United States and Canada – over 250 million – dwarfs the population of most countries.

Drivers’ rights don’t just occur naturally. To protect the driving public from excessive tolls, fees, and fines and to ensure that motorists retain the due process rights afforded all citizens, it takes an organization dedicated to the task. That organization is, and has been for the past 38 years, the National Motorists Association (NMA).

The NMA’s strength as a grassroots advocacy organization – our ability to effectively lobby federal, state, and local governments for change – is derived from our membership. Join the NMA and become an agent of change on behalf of the motoring public.
