Thanks to Kirsten Hill for this information on the expansion of Title IX by the bureaucrats in the Office of Civil Rights within the Department of Education.
September 13, 2022
I am fairly sure that you are all very concerned about what Ohio’s children are being taught in Ohio schools. The latest most-egregious thing we see is the proposed expansion of Title IX by the bureaucrats in the Office of Civil Rights within the U.S. Department of Education. It would apply to schools which receive federal money which is the vast majority of schools in Ohio, unfortunately. This expansion aims to have the definition of sex include ‘sexual orientation’ and ‘gender identity’, together often known as ‘SOGI’. This will allow trans-identified boys in the girls bathrooms and lockerrooms and trans-identified girls in boys bathrooms and lockerrooms, boys in girls sports/girls in boys sports and school officials grooming children to a trans-life, allowing changing of their legal name, etc., possibly without parents knowing. It could mean going down the path of socially “transitioning”, even chemically and surgically mutilating their bodies. This has and will create more chaos in schools, within families and within communities. Though it is just now being formalized in federal code, these actions have already been taking place in schools, unfortunately.
This expansion of Title IX and implementation in Ohio schools who take Federal money, essentially, would criminalize / demonize those who do not go along with this woke ideology. Parents of the children who are gender-dysphoric could be criminalized. Students in the same classrooms with children who are gender-dysphoric could be punished for not going along with this woke ideology.
Pro-truth resolution submitted
The reason that I am bringing this to your attention today is because my friend, Brendan Shea, a fellow member on the state board of education, has submitted a resolution to the state board of education members of Ohio to consider which addresses this expansion of Title IX, pushing back against it. See the resolution below. The same is attached.
Resistance is expected from the Left
A high amount of interest and resistance is expected from the Leftists on the state board of education Ohio and within the education establishment.
SUPPORT truth. Support this resolution.
It would be great for this resolution to get your support via written testimony to the board and/or oral testimony to the board. From my observations of the board, public testimony can be highly impactful on board members’ votes.
How to submit testimony of support to the state board of education:
- Written testimony is received by sending an email to the board liaison Alex Goodman at SBOE@education.ohio.gov by Sunday, September 18, at 5:00 p.m. He places it in the board materials online for board members and the public to access.
- Oral testimony means attending the state board meeting on Tuesday, September 20, in Columbus and speaking for up to 5 minutes to the board members, followed by questions from board members. This takes place during the public testimony section on the board’s agenda which is typically in the morning. Submitting the oral testimony in writing in advance may be done which gives board members the opportunity to read it before the meeting but is not required. See #1.
It’s as easy as clicking here and writing an email right now and hitting the SEND button.
