Michael Zuren
Lake County Treasurer
The Ohio County Treasurer’s Association recently hosted its fall conference in Columbus to celebrate its one hundredth anniversary. At this event, Lake County Treasurer Michael Zuren gave a presentation about investment strategies and long-term success driven by data for Ohio’s counties.
Over the past three years, Lake County has achieved some of its highest investment returns ever, focusing on high-rated investments in U.S. Treasuries, Treasury notes, commercial paper, and certificates of deposit, while paying attention to maturity dates to maximize returns for the county.
In his talk, Zuren highlighted how these investment returns will benefit county projects without needing to raise taxes. He also mentioned several community outreach programs aimed at helping local residents improve their financial literacy, prevent identity theft, and manage their budgets. Zuren stated that Lake County has established many partnerships with government agencies to support residents through 2025.
