Can Mentor Schools Be Saved?

By Brian Massie, A Watchman on the Wall

We have been concerned about the direction the liberal dominated Mentor School Board has taken over the years. School Board Members Annie Payne and Rose Ioppolo have tried their best to get the school district on the correct path, but the extremely liberal members, Maggie Cook (Board President), Virginia Jeschelnig (Vice-President), and Lauren Marchaza “rule the roost”.

A statement was issued by the Mentor school.

The District is aware that a student was arrested recently in connection with alleged conduct that occurred off-campus. As this is a law enforcement matter involving a juvenile and not a school-led investigation, we are limited in what we know about the case. We will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement in connection with this situation.

While this matter may understandably cause concern within the District community, we want to assure parents, students, and staff that the safety and well-being of our students remains a top priority. Due to student privacy laws, and because this matter involves law enforcement, the District cannot release additional details about the individual or circumstances. However, the District can share that upon receiving notice of the arrest, the District undertook a number of steps to ensure that students and staff would be able to continue to operate without additional disruption to the educational environment both in the short-term and beyond.

From Mentor School

Here is the news story from Fox 8:

Mentor, Ohio (WJW) – The Mentor Police Department announced the arrest of a 15-year-old Thursday.

the teen, who will not be named due to his age, was under investigation for several months, according to police.

The teen was charged with 36 felony counts, including pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and pandering obscenity involving a minor.

A warrant was obtained for the teen’s arrest/ He was taken into custody on Friday, according to police, and remains in the Lake County Juvenile Detention Facility.

United States Senator Bernie Moreno has issued a letter to the Mentor Schools’ Board President Maggie Cook. Here is the letter:

The November 2025 ballot is a very important one for the citizens living in the Mentor School District. Will they choose the narrow path of righteousness, or will they continue with the wide path of destruction with “progressive liberal” Maggie Cook at the helm?

We sincerely hope that the citizens choose wisely.

Update:

Updated Message from Mentor Schools

Mentor Schools is providing the following statement in order to address the misinformation circulating throughout the community related to the recent arrest of a juvenile on felony charges.

As we shared earlier this week, the District is aware of the recent arrest of a juvenile who was previously enrolled in our district. The arrest comes as a result of an investigation by law enforcement and we have fully cooperated with law enforcement in connection with their process.

We want to assure our community that the juvenile in question has not attended school or been present on any district property since the time of the arrest. Any indication otherwise from any source is simply not accurate.

While we are limited by various laws in disclosing more specific information, the District is able to share that the juvenile is no longer a student of Mentor Schools.
We appreciate the continued support of our community.
