Freedom & Liberty Under Attack In Ohio By Republicans

By Brian Massie, A Watchman on the Wall

Boris & Natasha sent the following information about Ohio lawmakers, once again, trying to abridge our freedom and liberty. This time they want to limit public records requests so that the politicians will be less accountable to us.

We see a disturbing trend in the State of Ohio. The politicians are chipping away at our freedoms and liberty. The recent court case between Comrade Senator “He who shall not be named” and the “Rooster” was a prime example of communist tactics by a powerful politician using his legal friends to needlessly arrest a citizen and intimidate the other citizens into never questioning Republican authority.

The case also showed very clearly that Lake County judges will not hesitate to legislate from the bench by allowing their personal beliefs to overrule the law. This further erodes our freedoms.

The Judge outed himself when he was trying to endorse Judge Marisa Cornachio, who is running for a position on the 11th circuit Court of Appeals.

“The Court of Appeals is a court that must follow the law and not make decisions based on personal beliefs” ….Judge Michael Cicconetti

Stop believing the comforting lies and start listening to the unpleasant truths.

We see the enemy, and it is us!

Wake up people!

Ohio lawmakers want to give county officials weapons against us, for making records requests. This is a premeditated attack on all Ohioans’ right to transparency.

House Bill 314 already passed the Ohio House 78-18. It’s sitting in Senate Judiciary right now. It was introduced by State Reps. Sharon Ray and Dani Isaacsohn.

If an office decides your public records requests are “harassing or disruptive,” they can petition a judge to limit or deny them — including your future requests. They can hire a private contractor for big requests and hand YOU the bill.

Read that again: the office you’re asking questions of, can call your questions “harassment”.

They already have the ability to turn a records request down if it’s overly broad or overly burdensome.

And the courts aren’t going to punish them if they are wrong. So no matter what, they can use it to delay your records and cost you money — just to punish you for making records requests.

I have filed a lot of records requests in the last couple years. Do I think it’s harassing? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Was it necessary? ABSOLUTELY. Do I think they would have tried to label it harassment because they don’t want to give me records? Oh, they ABSOLUTELY would have. So this bill is scary.

What do you guys think is going to happen when you suspect fraud and you start making records requests? Do you not think they’re going to use the court to prevent or delay you from getting more records?

This will likely kill watchdog groups that make records requests to PREVENT fraud.

Do I think more records requests need to be filed? ABSOLUTELY. My entire federal lawsuit is built from public records requests. So if that tells you guys anything.

This is just them limiting transparency. They’re realizing people are catching on, so they’re trying to limit the records we’re able to get. Just like they put a cost on body cam footage. They’ve got tons of money and time for Flock cameras — that’s good for them. But records requests? That’s bad for them. They can watch us but want to prevent us from watching them.

And if they’ll do it in Ohio, other states are next.

Common sense says the government doesn’t get to sue you for asking to see the paperwork.

It’s not law yet. Here’s who to contact — tell them to vote no on HB 314:

State Senator Andrew Brenner (Delaware County): 614-466-8086, brenner@ohiosenate.gov

Senate Judiciary Chair Nathan Manning: 614-644-7613, manning@ohiosenate.gov

Vice Chair Michele Reynolds: 614-466-8064, reynolds@ohiosenate.gov

Ranking Member Paula Hicks-Hudson: 614-466-5204, hickshudson@ohiosenate.gov

Keep emailing them — every email counts.

And here’s the move most people don’t know: anyone can file written opponent testimony on this bill. You don’t need an invitation. Submit it through the Ohio Senate’s online testimony portal, or email it straight to Chair Manning’s office. No hearing is scheduled yet, so file now — it sits on the record waiting. Written testimony gets published online as public record.

And how do you think stuff like this gets pushed through? Lobbyists. Lobbyists push our lawmakers to make laws that destroy us. We need to push back harder. If they really wanted to help citizens, they’d pass a law requiring public records to be posted online — instead of “inconveniencing” officials by making them dig them out every single time somebody asks. Like it’s not a burden to us to have to watch these crooks? This is absolutely unreal. Not only should this be voted down but the two people that proposed it should be fired in my opinion. Clearly they are not working for the citizens.
