We were shocked to learn of the passing of a friend and contributor to our website. Denver wrote many of articles entitled “Its a Matter of Life”. May you rest in peace my friend, you have been a hardworking, faithful servant of the Lord.

DENVER SALLEE age 79, beloved husband for 56 years of Marsha (nee Scranton); loving father of Jacque Cicchella (husband Jeff, deceased), Denver, III, M.D. (wife Margaret), Christopher, M.D. (wife Heidi, M.D.), and Jennifer Parent; devoted grandfather of Justin Cicchella, Ryan Parent, Jordan Cicchella, Denise Sallee, Megan Parent, Marie and Anna Sallee, Maddie Parent, Jaden Cicchella, Brendan, Jonathan, and Dylan Sallee, Julian, Jaxon, Jonah and the late Jansen Cicchella; cherished son of the late Denver Sallee and Sophia Petersen (nee Valand) and step-son of the late Clifford Petersen; dearest brother of William (wife Patricia), Dorothy Hall (husband Donald, deceased), and the late Kenneth Petersen (wife Betty Ann), Peggy Dinallo (husband Jerry, deceased), Betty Lou Balzer (husband Bill, deceased), Paul Petersen (wife Joyce) and Jean Mog (husband Gerald, deceased); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Denver was born on July 26, 1942 in Stonega, Virginia and passed away on January 3, 2022.

He moved to Cleveland in 1950, graduated from Kirtland High School in 1960 and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University. Denver worked for General Motors in payroll and accounting.

He was the President of Lake County Right to Life and Co-Chair of HELP at St. Helen. Denver loved food, especially cooking and baking.

He enjoyed homeschooling his grandkids and spending time with his grandkids. Denver was a Cleveland sports fan and was staunchly pro-life.

He will be remembered most as a selfless, giving, man who had a great sense of humor and who loved to tell stories and sing folk songs to his grandkids.

Denver was devoted to his family and faith, and he will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Denver to HELP Care of St. Helen Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Helen Catholic Church 12060 Kinsman Rd., Newbury, OH 44065.

Burial following at Munn Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Denver at THE CHURCH THURSDAY MORNING 10-11 AM.
