Another Violation of the Open Meetings Act in Lake County?

By Brian Massie, A Watchman on the Wall

On June 6, 2024, I informed the Lake County Commissioners that, in my opinion, the Lake County Budget Commission had violated the Ohio Open Meetings act by creating an Ad Hoc committee to develop an alternate formula to distribute the Local Government Funds.

We just received a copy of the lawsuit filed by “Open Government Advocates” against the Lake County Budget Commission and the Auditor, Treasurer and Prosecutor in their official capacity.

We will follow this case very closely for the citizens of Lake County. If the “Open Government Advocates” prevail in this lawsuit, it will negate the alternate formula recently approved by the County, the City of Mentor and the majority of the remaining municipalities.
