Here is an email we sent to the Lakeland Community College representative. We have a “hunch” that they are trying to shore up their declining full time student enrollment by increasing the number of high school students enrolled in the College Credit Plus Program. Remember, the CCP is paid for by the local school districts, and that means that Lake County taxpayers are paying the bill through their property taxes. LCC had the audacity to double their tuition rates this year on the CCP program.

Ms. Sabath,
We read with great interest the News-Herald article regarding the increased use of College Credit Plus program (CCP).
https://www.news-herald.com/news/lake-county/high-school-students-take-advantage-of-ccp-program-at-lakeland/article_647bc44e-0c48-11e9-a2b2-8f715ff8aec1.html
Our antenna goes up when we read this…..It means more money paid by local school districts, and, by extension, more of our local property taxes are paying for college tuition.
We are requesting the following information:
1. Number of full-time students enrolled at LCC for the past 10 years.
2. Number of part-time students enrolled at LCC for the past 10 years.
3. Number of high school students enrolled in the CCP program for the past 10 years.
4. The annual revenue generated for LCC by the CCP program – by school district – for the past 10 years.
Thank you,
Brian Massie
