Lake County Treasurer’s Office Sending Out Property Tax Bills

By Brian Massie, A Watchman on the Wall

We have been speaking and writing about the sexennial revaluation for property values in Lake County for quite some time. Significant property tax increases will become a reality for many residents this month. It will eventual dawn on Lake County taxpayers that they do not really own their own home. They are merely renters from the government, with 60% – 70% of their property tax bill going to the public education.

The Lake County Treasurer’s Office announced property tax bills will be mailed on Jan. 24.

The tax bills are currently available and can be obtained through the treasurer’s website or by calling the treasurer’s office at 440-350-2516 to receive a copy via email, according to a news release. The Treasurer’s drive-thru will open Jan. 28 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays until Feb. 19; and Saturdays Feb. 1, 8, and 15 from 8 a.m. until noon.

Property tax bills are available online right now.

Lake County residents are still able to sign up for free recurring semiannual Auto Pay by filling out the department’s form online. The Lake County Treasurer’s Office also has created a payment portal.

Questions should be directed to the Treasurer’s office, which is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 440-350-2516 or by email at treasurer@lakecountyohio.gov.
