Music & Memory Initiative……$50,000 of your money

In 2017, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging requested and received $50,000 from the Lake County Commissioners for a project to determine if there is a link between music and those with dementia.

On the surface, we can understand why the commissioners at that time thought it might be a worthwhile expenditure of Senior Levy funds.  Here is a copy of the project background and a progress report through February 28, 2018 supplied to us by the Lake County Administrator:      Music and Memory Initiative

However, we have been asking Lake County officials for months now for the FINAL report that was promised by the infamous RSVP organization……..we are still waiting, and we are not getting any younger.

It is unacceptable to LFC for any organization to accept taxpayers’ money ($50,000 may be “chump change” to some, but not LFC), and not provide tangible results. Just for the record, we do not consider “feeling good” about your efforts in helping people as tangible results when $50,000 is involved.

We will continue to stay on top of this issue, and report to our readers as soon as the Final report is given to us.
