The report by the Ohio Education Policy Institute published in September 2025 provided a very interesting statistic about total property taxes collected in 2024.
“After dutifully paying their property taxes – which totaled $16.7 billion in 2024 – to support schools and other local governmental services, Ohio’s homeowners and farmers find themselves at the confluence of four forces.” …(page 1 of their Introduction)
We find that very interesting because State legislators are publicly stating that the total property taxes collected in Ohio are $24 Billion.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a problem, since both statistics cannot be correct. We cannot trust our legislators to tell us the truth, so we have tried another approach. Here is a letter that we have sent to the President of the Ohio Education Policy Institute.

Stay tuned, we will report to our readers if or when Mr. Imhoff responds to our inquiry. My instincts tell me that the legislators are “moving the goalposts” and inflated the numbers since we originally heard $18 Billion.
