By Brian Massie, A Watchman on the Wall

The State of Ohio issued a warning on March 9, 2023 about “Payment Re-Direct” schemes and “Business Email Compromise” schemes.

On August 27, 2025 the Ohio Auditor issues their “Adoption of Cybersecurity Program”.

The Ohio Revised Code Section 9.64 dealing with Political subdivision cybersecurity was adopted on September 30, 2025.

After numerous attempts to obtained public records on the Lake County theft, we received the following response via email from the Assistant Prosecutor, Mr. Dave Hackman:

“Mr. Massie, As discussed during our impromptu meeting with Auditor Galloway yesterday, Lake County was recently the victim of a sophisticated cybersecurity incident. As this matter is an active criminal investigation by federal and local law enforcement agencies, it would not be prudent for any Lake County public officials or employees to discuss this matter with anyone other than the involved law enforcement agencies. Thank you in advance for your consideration in this matter.”

Stay tuned…this incident is far from over…there is a lot more that needs to be revealed.

Let’s ask former Lake Commissioner Ron Young what he has learned about the two top priorities of government. Truer words were never said….”to protect itself and grow!”
