No Pay for Us…No Pay for You!

(LFC Comments: Oh, we so agree with Tom Z!…No pay for the private sector, no pay for the State officials….ALL OF THEM!  Remember, they say that we are all in this together.  Let’s see if they mean it.)

For Immediate Release: Thursday, April 16, 2020 – 2:00 PM
Contact: Tom Zawistowski,
Akron, OH: Today, Tom Zawistowski, President of the TEA Party affiliated We the People Convention and Executive Director of the Portage County TEA Party, called on Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Health Director Dr. Amy Acton, Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted and ALL members of the Ohio House and Senate to immediately have their pay stopped until Ohio workers are back to work. Zawistowski made his demands based on the fact that the actions, and inactions, of the Ohio state government have taken the paychecks away from millions of Ohio workers and hundreds of thousands of Ohio business owners. Those in government responsible have not had to pay their fair share of the costs they say are “required” in order to “save lives” from the coronavirus threat.
Zawistowski said, “It is hard for me to believe that Governor DeWine, Dr. Acton and Lt. Governor Husted would be so callous as to continue to take their paychecks when it is they who have taken the paychecks away from millions of Ohioans. They say in every press briefing that they “know how hard it is for many Ohioans” to do what is being asked of them, but clearly they have no idea whatsoever how hard it is – it’s about time they find out. The Ohio Legislature has been totally AWOL for this entire meltdown and has done nothing to represent the interests of the workers and business owners in their Districts. They should also stop getting a paycheck until those businesses are open and their employees are getting paid once again – and not a day sooner.”
Zawistowski continued by saying, “Our state government gave Ohio restaurant/bar owners and employees six hours notice that they would be out of a paycheck. We the People are giving you the same notice. Stop taking your pay effective tomorrow and do not take a paycheck until the number of Ohioans employed are back to the number employed on March 1, 2020. Perhaps then, instead of doing everything you can to handicap business in Ohio, you will have an incentive to do everything you can to help every business survive this government-made catastrophe and reopen. As the protestors at the state capital chant everyday “No paycheck for us, no paycheck for you!” We call upon all Ohioans to contact the Governor and their Legislators and demand that they show solidarity with Ohio workers and business owners by not taking a paycheck until this mess they created is fixed.”

  7. Totally agree!! Problem is, no one can get through to contact DeWine. All telephone callers are greeted with a recorded message! And, guess what? You cannot leave a message, because the “box is full.” Imagine that!! Our government dictators could not be bothered with their constituients! They have no desire, or need to listen to our complaints. They are King, without question. The citizens have no recourse. . . . The health administrator have been empowered to serve unchecked as the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government all at once.
During extensive reading, articles have acknowledged a necessity for the governor, and Dept of Health Offcials to gain ‘permission’ from the Legsitrative General Assembly prior to unConstitutional actions, such as removing our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Has this been done? Did the Ohio General Asembly agree to DeWine & Acton’s mandates? Were they even consulted?
How long is the lockdown going to go on? Yesterday, DeWine did not disclose anything pertaining to life after May 1, 2020. “He could not tell us”, and “he would not tell us yet” was a common refrain. King DeWine has all of our lives in his hands. And Acton, even though her predictions of 10,000 deaths failed to materialize, [thank God], then doubled down on her eariler recommdations. As of today, Ohio has under 400 deaths. . . . DeWine closed Ohio down over THREE deaths on March 22. Possible overkill? You bet. Something else going on? You bet.
What if his actions will further this plague and the death that surrounds it? What if ‘herd immunity’ is the only way out? Have their actions prevented ‘herd immunity’?
What have they been doing for the past 5 weeks were have been in lockdown? Where are the COVID-19 test for all Ohioans? Abbott Labs, here in Ohio, have appropiate test. Why didn’t the Dept of Health procure them these past few weeks? Acton stated that 74,000 Ohioans have been tested. What about the rest of us? When will that happen? They will drag the non-test out as long as possible, because the test will positively allow Ohio to open up! Can’t have that. . .
Then, the governor told us to wear ‘homemade’, inefective mask. He even held one up that his wife had made him. Why wasn’t he wearing it? Because, we do as he says, not as he does!
My question is, exactly what has the govenor, and the Dept of Health been doing these past 5 weeks?
Their inaction deserves non-payment, but to whom do we turn to produce this outcome?
