The property tax bills will be mailed to the homeowners by the end of January, 2025. Some taxpayers will be happy, but some taxpayers may experience some anxiety upon open their statements. Those with their property taxes rolled into their mortgage may want to ask for the details of the property tax statement directly from the Auditor’s office, or they can find it online.
If you do not agree with your property values, you do have a chance to file an appeal with the Board of Revision. Here is a link to the website that will provide some answers for you. The following video of the Board meeting held today, may also provide some answers.

LFC attended the Board of Revision meeting held today at the Auditor’s office. Our readers may find this useful as Auditor Galloway and Treasurer Zuren educated newly elected Commissioner, Morris Beverage, on the duties and procedures that the Board must follow.
We did discover that the average property tax increase for the residents of Mentor will be approximately 6%. The Riverside School District did not reach the 20 mill floor. The final number was 20.00004. That means that their $3.6 million anticipated increase will be significantly less since the outside millage will not be treated like inside millage. One final nugget, Willoughby-Eastlake taxpayers will be “hammered”.
Full disclosure: LFC edited out about 10 minutes of the video when the Board ruled on several taxpayers’ request for forgiveness of late payment fees. We did not want any taxpayers to be embarrassed by having their name mentioned. My comment to Auditor Galloway at the end of the meeting was that I should have included the rulings because it demonstrated that the Board acted with compassion toward the taxpayers.
