Another Ohio Senior’s Plight With Property Taxes

ANY TAX CAUSING A CITIZEN TO BECOME HOMELESS IS IMMORAL!

I wanted to share this. I lost my home to unpaid taxes. I lost my home which was paid for and fixed up. Fixing my home up was one of the major problems. I should have left it alone and just let it rot. By fixing it up they came in and upped my taxes on the house. I was unable to pay the taxes due to legal issues but the plan was to get caught up once those were over. They finished and I went through the long and painful process of getting back on my feet. The county did not care. I was a number and they even added more on to the process to make it even more impossible to get it all paid. I am sick to this day about it all. Mandates from the state added, fake utilities added to it (over 100% interest on that one) which all led to this day.

I signed the AXE the Tax petition. I do not believe your home should be taken away (paid for) for property taxes. Without advocacy or a way to get things caught up this has happened to a lot of other people.

My house was run down when I bought it (really run down). I fixed it, cleaned up the home and property and my reward? Lose it. Property taxes are a blight on society. Imagine a world where; “fix it and it will be an asset” turned into “fix it and government will put a fake value on the property and take it” is reality. And, in my case, boy was it reality. I am still trying to get back on track (a number of better things have happened to me since so I am hopeful for better times) but I still think back on my little house built into the hillside of my town and now it is an empty piece of land (they demolished it). What a waste.

Here is another sad story from Michael Reed about his mother be taxed out of her home:

So my father and mother have owned their home for 60 years. 60! Paid $5000 dollars for it . Have bought and paid for it probably 20 times in taxes. On a fixed income of social security . My dad passed away yesterday and here’s my 80 year old mother now down to her income and property taxes that just came and is worried of how she is going to pay them!!! You wanna talk about a mad you know what . Her husband dies and she has a property taxes bill hanging over her head that she can’t afford!!!

Ohio and its politicians, the whole damn bunch of you are worthless pieces of garbage !!!! All of you! You have no idea of everyday people and the struggles to pay your taxes!!! It’s time we people take Ohio all back !!! It’s past time ! No more taxes on property.
